Freedom in Christ — and the Freedom to Heal: A Lesson from A Horse!
This weekend at Riding High Ministry, I witnessed a message that spoke louder than any sermon. A horse that had never been trained or ridden stood in the center of the arena. The trainer tried to guide it toward what he called freedom — but each time he moved, the horse stopped.
Not because it didn’t want freedom…
But because fear, hesitation, and the unknown held it still.
And then I realized — this wasn’t about a horse at all.
It was about us.
How many times does Christ lead us toward healing, change, or peace… yet we freeze at the very first step?
We ask for answers, but hesitate when God gives direction.
We pray for breakthrough, but fear the path that leads to it.
The trainer represented Christ:
• patient when we resist
• gentle when we fear
• persistent when we stand still
• loving even when correction is needed to move us forward
Freedom didn’t come when the horse understood the journey — it came when the horse began to trust the heart of the one leading it.
And as I watched, I couldn’t help but think of the families we serve at PC³.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer, everything stops — just like that horse.
Fear freezes them.
Uncertainty surrounds them.
Everything familiar disappears.
And yet, just as the trainer did, PC³ comes alongside them gently:
• offering direction
• offering comfort
• offering support
• offering hope
We don’t force their steps — we walk with them.
We don’t replace their strength — we help rebuild it.
We don’t remove the journey — we make sure they never walk it alone.
Christ leads us.
And through PC³, we help lead families toward hope, dignity, and courage — one step at a time.
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” — 2 Corinthians 3:17
Reflection:
Freedom isn’t found in standing still — it’s found in trusting Christ enough to follow His lead.
